Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was one of the American and British sitar artist. She was among the youngest and the first woman to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to play live and to be a presenter for the awards ceremony. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student and is also his daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the early years of her life traveling between London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. In Encinitas California in 1999, she was awarded a high-school diploma. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, but she has a very amazing career in music and performance. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for several years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. Her stage career is very vast as she has been in every one of the world's major venues. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't restricted to just music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biographie she wrote in 2002. It is a tribute to her late father Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in movies in 2003. She was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she portrays a young Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will continue to grow and expand. We are looking for exciting interesting things coming from her. Anoushka Shakar, born in England spent a large part of her adult life in London Delhi. After moving to California she graduated from high school. When she was 9 She began studying music alongside her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka performed with her father on his worldwide tour, gained a remarkable amount of experience. When she was in her teens, she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
